What is YOUR favorite thing about Asheville?

Mine is the energy! Bzzzz.........
And the art...
And music...
And mountains...

Jeesh - I just love it all.

The sheer beauty of the area, which to a local might go truly unappreciated, captivated my wife and I from the minute we got into the area via northern Georgia backroads, to the sad afternoon we left driving down into the North Carolina piedmont.

Asheville west to the Smokies is a memorable ecology and terrain, especially for someone living in NE Florida for 5 years prior. In my mind nothing I've seen in the entire eastern US, from Key West to the Green mountains of Vermont can rival the area's flora, fauna, and the canvas this masterpiece is painted on, the mountains themselves.
Thinking of moving near Asheville....

The area is great, great beauty, weather, things to do, great people.

Asheville itself is a boil that continues to fester in the middle of a great area.
No you cannot have my freedoms, I'm still using them!

awww...geez feral, Asheville really isn't that bad....I would say it has it's up's and downs and its good and bad points and actually compared to NC as a whole I would say it is an Oasis...lol!

Luigi...say out of the Piedmont....I call it "North Carolina's Stinky Arm Pit". I grew up in Winston-Salem and am glad to be out of there. My parents recently moved back there and I wonder if they have lost their minds and when it was suggested I move back they got the "Hell No" answer.

Carolina Mornings ain't goin' nowhere! ;)

Hehe...how do you like my grammar?

Anyways...we have offices in Asheville and Carrboro - the best two places in NC in my *humble* opinion.

Asheville is truly wonderful. I love it. We love it (since this is a business profile...hehehe..) but we REALLY do!

Personally, I've lived all over the country...from the far reaches of South Florida, all the way over to San Francisco and quite a few places in between.

Wouldn't ya know that I end up here and love it. :)

Eh...where would go if we left? Really? Where would we go?

The Music scene, the beauty of the area, the people
There is a very fine line between "hobby" and "mental illness."

The growth of the music scene since I arrived in 1990 has been impressive, to say the least. I'd have to say that is my "favorite thing" about being here. Additionally, the fact that I can drive a few miles and get lost in a random spot of hills and woods; there's nothing but good in that.

I love the culture and the music scene however, I think it's time to head back Raleigh way.

Technology calls my name. Errr, money too I guess. Companies don't pay squat here.

Example: A client of mine (a business consultant) charges $180 per hour in the Atlanta and Charlotte areas. In Asheville he charges $80.
How about a nice game of chess?
